Rock The World is a combination of some aspects of: NICKELODEON, SESAME STREET and the MUPPETS meet SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Its a mixture of fast paced segments of music, drama, puppets and sometimes video.

You might be asking yourself: Why Rock The World…?

In this world a certain number of powerful, talented people want the minds of our children. They have the tools, and they spend plenty of time and money to research and create T.V. shows, movies, C.D.s, comic books, video games, etc. to capture the attention of today’s youth. It has to be fast paced; it has to be interesting, stimulating; it has to be creative and it must relate - communicate to the needs, curiosities, and desires of the age level… right down to the “advertisements”. The reward they receive is high ratings, an Emmy, a Grammy, or the book of the year award. The bottom line is profit–money. There is nothing wrong with working hard and reaping the rewards–but what I question is: what kind of seeds are being planted into the minds and hearts of our children; and therefore, what kind of fruit will grow.

We are Christians. We know there is a spiritual battle raging. As Childrens’ Ministry Workers (Soldiers), how much time do we spend praying for God to give us a new vision, a renewed passion to communicate His love to our children… to HIS children? How much time do we spend researching and developing ways to reach His kids? How much time and money do we spend to make our moments with them creative and stimulating, memorable and fruitful? Imagine the time and money a company will put into one 30 second T.V. commercial. They must view those 30 seconds as gold… a golden opportunity to reach somebody with a message.

At Rock The World, we have a message… it’s God’s Good News from His Holy Word. I’m not saying that the Rock the World method is the only or the best way to communicate to kids. I’m simply looking at what the kids seem to like… what grabs their attention, keeps it, and causes them to remember. Some people think that the word “entertain” is evil or somehow unspiritual. But I look at Jesus, the Master story teller, and I see someone who knows how to hold a crowd… knows how to stimulate their interest and peek their curiosity… He knows how to draw them in and teach. Is it any wonder that the word: “entertain” contains the words… “enter” and “in”. After more than ten years of working with a great group of people and putting on Rock The World Sunday after Sunday, here’s what I’ve learned:

  • It doesn’t take a lot of money or great professional talent…
  • It takes prayer, a vision, a passion, a willing heart, patience, commitment, unity, your blood, sweat and tears, your time, (did I mention: “your time”?)
  • A child-like joy, love for God, and for His Children. I know…

God will bless you as He has all of us.
